The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards is the world’s only event dedicated exclusively to the design of food and drink spaces Totally independent, the UK and International Restaurant & Bar Design Awards now in its sixth year receives entries from the UK and world’s top architects, designers and hospitality operators. Judges consist of the most influential personalities in design, hospitality & lifestyle. The 2014 Awards ceremony will be held in London on the 25th September at the Old Truman Brewery.

Leo Restaurant, Nir Yefet Design Studio

The Leo Restaurant, located in Cinema City, Jerusalem, is a fashionable, new chef restaurant and lounge bar, owned by chef Eran Ben Arush, and designed by renowned Israeli designer, Nir Yefet.

Wright Brothers, Undercover Architecture

The brief for Undercover Architecture was to create a new restaurant at the Old Spitalfields Market in London that challenged what the experience of dining in a seafood restaurant could be. The idea of ‘sea-to-plate’ dining: serving fresh seafood from seawater tanks within the restaurant was the starting point for telling the story of the Wright Brothers’ oyster farming history through all scales of the design.

Harlow, Meyer Davis Studio

880-Harlow-NYC-45-880x600 Harlow, New York, has been designed by Meyer Davis Studio to be alluring and sophisticated, as well as mischievous, with contemporary and original features. New restaurant Harlow, in New York, is a realisation of owner Richie Notar’s vision for an alluring and stylish clubhouse vibe, and was created by the design team at Meyer Davis Studio.

Villard Michel Richard, Jeffrey Beers International

880-Villard-Michel-Richard-F-880x600 Villard Michel Richard at the New York Palace Hotel is located in a historic landmarked (or ‘listed’, as others might know the term) space that was previously a neo-Italian Renaissance residence known as The Villard Mansion. Jeffrey Beers International’s designers had the challenge of designing a modern space for the restaurant, whilst retaining the essence of the original building, and also without being able to alter the existing walls, floors or ceilings. Villard Michel Richard (at the New York Palace hotel) is a restaurant combining modern glamour with heritage interiors, in landmarked rooms in the building.

Girasol, Gulla Jonsdottir Design

880-03_-GIRASOL_HOSTESS-STAND The design for Girasol, located in Los Angeles, has been inspired by the meaning of its name – sunflower. A light and airy interior features flower motifs.The designers at Gulla Jonsdottir Design were inspired by the Spanish name of this project – Girasol – meaning sunflower. They wanted to represent this flower beautifully, so they created a ceiling of white wooden flower petals that is backlit, and held up by a central floral column stem.

Graffiti (Varna, Bulgaria) / Studio MODE

53 Winner of both the Europe and best international bar categories in the 2012 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, Café Graffiti in Varna, Bulgaria designed by Studio MODE is a visually exquisite venue. Unique and artistic, the interior is a showcase for the expressive ceiling, formed from hundreds of plywood slivers rising up from the three strong curvy columns. The wall tiling is a three-dimensional imitation of the geometric flooring, continuing the multi-surface flow of materials that is such a theme within Graffiti.
